Over the past 50 years the once rural village has turned into one of the 3 most important tourist regions of Southern Tyrol. The favourite position of the village on the sunny slopes right over Meran, the outstanding mild climate, its high quality of tourist infrastructure and last but not least the hearty friendliness and hospitality of the population as well as the individual engagement have contributed to the great success of Schenna.
 
Farm houses, located on steep slopes, present an idyllic image and show that tradition, customs and rituals still live in our peoples mind. Tradition and modern life work hand in hand. Here, customs are not only found during a folklore event but in real life, as it has been carried out for many years.
 
Schenna is not only known for its alpine and adventurous hiking trails but also for shopping and the experience of the Tyrolean tradition and culture. Shopping does become an adventure in Schenna: Italian fashion, shoes, enticing jewels, local handicrafts, or run-of-the-mill souvenirs are offered in the pictorial centre.
 
During the warm months of summer, July through August, Scena stores are opened late until 11pm on Wednesday nights.
